Saint-Ambroix is a very pleasant town, dominated by the Rocher du Dugas, on which the ruins of the 12th century castle lie opposite a "fairytale" chapel, built in 1867. Noted for its market since 1363, the town was also home to 20 silk spinning mills and there is still evidence of the mansion houses which lie alongside the houses built into the rock face. In the surrounding area, some interesting visits can be made to the Cocalière Cave at Courry and Montalet castle at Molières-sur-Cèze. |
